To help with the modernization of the EMB-312 fleet, Antares designs a Head Up Display (HUD) fully integrated with aircraft avionics.
ISSUE
The Colombian Air Force has a fleet of EMB-312 aircraft used for pilot combat training. This training was very limited due to issues with its old refractive sight, which could not be calibrated. This calibration was not possible because the mechanical and optical components were no longer available in the market, thus leaving the sights unusable. This situation could lead to the fleet losing autonomy as a training aircraft for combat pilots.
SOLUTION
Antares was contacted by the Colombian Air Force to propose a solution to the problem with additional requests from the customer, such as taking into account that the aircraft had been modernized with electronic screens, so it was required that some flight information data was projected on the HUD.
RESULTS
For the solution, Antares researched the fields of optics, electronics, software, and ergonomics achieving, as a result, a modern electronic sight (HUD) with a shooting accuracy range of 2 mils, night vision compatible, with the desired flight information projected onto the combiner.
Compliance with standards and certifications: MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 tested and NVIS Compatible.
